Here are three ways to dress up your morning toast that are quick enough for a weekday breakfast, but also special enough for a weekend breakfast.
Ingredients
Fruit & Honey Cream Cheese Toast:
- 2 oz cream cheese softened
- 2 tsp honey approx.
- 1/4 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 slice whole grain bread toasted
- 1/3 cup assorted berries strawberries, blackberries, raspberries and/or blueberries
- 1 tsp chia seeds
- Mint leaves thinly sliced
Bacon & Herb Cream Cheese Toast:
- 2 oz cream cheese softened
- 1 tbsp finely chopped chives
- 1 tsp roasted garlic purée
- 1 slice whole grain bread toasted
- 3 strips bacon cooked
- 1/2 small tomato sliced
- 1 tsp capers
- 1/2 small shallot very thinly sliced
- 1 tbsp shaved Parmesan cheese
Mediterranean Cream Cheese Toast:
- 2 oz cream cheese softened
- 2 tsp lemon juice
- 1/2 tsp finely grated lemon zest
- 1/2 tsp dried oregano
- 1 slice whole grain bread toasted
- 1 small tomato chopped
- 1/4 cup chopped cucumber
- 2 tbsp sliced Kalamata olives
- 2 tbsp crumbled feta cheese
- 1 tsp finely chopped fresh parsley
- 1 tsp olive oil
Instructions
- Fruit & Honey Cream Cheese Toast: Blend together cream cheese, honey and cinnamon; spread over toast. Top with berries, chia seeds and mint. Drizzle with additional honey. Cut into 4 pieces.
- Bacon & Herb Cream Cheese Toast: Blend together cream cheese, chives and garlic; spread over toast. Top with bacon, tomato, capers and shallot. Sprinkle shaved Parmesan over top. Cut into 4 pieces.
- Mediterranean Cream Cheese Toast: Blend together cream cheese, lemon juice, lemon zest and oregano; spread over toast. Top with tomato, cucumber, olives and feta cheese. Sprinkle with parsley and drizzle with olive oil. Cut into 4 pieces.
