Basic Garlic Parmesan Cream Sauce

  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1/2 onion chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves pressed
  • 1/2 cup broth vegetable or chicken
  • 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
  • 1/4 tsp fresh rosemary chopped
  • 1/2 tsp fresh thyme
  • 1 cup Parmesan cheese shredded


  • Heat oil in a large pan over medium-high heat until hot
  • Add chopped onions and cook for about 10 minutes, stirring frequently, until edges start to brown
  • Add pressed garlic and cook for about 30 seconds, stirring constantly
  • Add broth and cook for about 5 minutes, until the liquid is reduced by about half
  • Add cream, chopped rosemary, and thyme. Stir to combine, cook for 5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly
  • Add shredded Parmesan and stir until melted into the sauce
  • Use sauce by mixing with pasta; pouring over steak, chicken or seafood; or over vegetables
