Reporting From the Field
Each month at Cheyenne Elementary, a breakfast party is held for the students who eat breakfast at school. In November the theme was “Leaves are Falling, Breakfast is Calling.” The goal of the party is to promote and reward students for eating breakfast at school. SWAT (school wellness advocacy team) members help by facilitating a station at the party which includes a photo booth, breakfast food sampling and a contest guessing how many objects are in a milk bottle. The winning student receives a Fuel Up to Play 60 prize. “The parties are easy to implement and only last 30 minutes before school begins. We have had success with this because of our cafeteria manager who provides the food items we need for tastings and sampling.” – Program Advisor, Erin Greiner
