To make the spiced syrup, add water, sugar, cinnamon sticks, cloves, peppercorns, and cardamom pods to a saucepan over high heat
Bring the mixture just to a boil, stir, then reduce heat and simmer uncovered for about 5 minutes
Remove from heat, allow to cool, then strain the liquid from the spices into a container; discard the spices
In a pitcher, pour coffee, half & half, and 1/2 cup of the syrup. Stir well to combine
Pour spiced coffee mix into glasses filled with ice
