French Bread Pizzas

Ingredients

  • 6 crusty Italian rolls whole
  • marinara or pizza sauce
  • pesto
  • 2 lbs mozzarella cheese grated
  • Parmesan cheese grated, to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1/2 lb pound sausage
  • pepperoni slices
  • Canadian bacon slices
  • pineapple chunks
  • Roma tomatoes sliced
  • black olives slices
  • optional ingredients shredded cheeses, bell pepper slices, jalapeno slices, diced red onion.

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  • Slice rolls in half and lay them, cut side up, on a large baking sheet.
  • Top each half with a generous portion of either marinara or pesto, followed by a generous amount of grated mozzarella and Parmesan.
  • Add preferred toppings.
  • Place pan in the oven on the lowest rack for 8 to 10 minutes. Increase temperature of the oven to 425 and put tray on the highest rack until the cheese starts to bubble a bit and turn golden.
  • Remove and serve immediately.
