  • 6 crusty Italian rolls whole
  • marinara or pizza sauce
  • pesto
  • 2 lbs mozzarella cheese grated
  • Parmesan cheese grated, to taste
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 onion sliced
  • 1/2 lb pound sausage
  • pepperoni slices
  • Canadian bacon slices
  • pineapple chunks
  • Roma tomatoes sliced
  • black olives slices
  • optional ingredients shredded cheeses, bell pepper slices, jalapeno slices, diced red onion.
  1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.
  2. Slice rolls in half and lay them, cut side up, on a large baking sheet.
  3. Top each half with a generous portion of either marinara or pesto, followed by a generous amount of grated mozzarella and Parmesan.

  4. Add preferred toppings.

  5. Place pan in the oven on the lowest rack for 8 to 10 minutes. Increase temperature of the oven to 425 and put tray on the highest rack until the cheese starts to bubble a bit and turn golden.
  6. Remove and serve immediately.
